Recently graduated from the School of Visual Arts, Katelyn Kopenhaver concluded her BFA with a different approach from her regular fashion photographs.

Katelyn pulls from her experience, challenging a strong critique on fashion while using it as a platform to vocalize controversial topics contingent on societal conflicts, feminism and culture. Katelyn sources her pieces from vintage materials allowing the circulation of existing fashion to start a fresh dialogue. Her recontextualization and unavoidable language grants her pieces new meaning and life.

“The officer said he was following us for at least six blocks. Contemplating everyone's move before they make it, I keep my eyes in the past, watching through the dead strands of my hair. I let people pass me, cross the street. I start to feel the sides of my neck tear sore and feel for the grooves of my keys.”
